District Budget Information 2016-17
USD 373 Administration presented a proposed budget for 2016-17 to the Newton Board of Education on August 8, 2016 The proposed budget was then approved by the board on August 22, 2016. Below is a summary of the budget profile along with a copy of the budget presentation.
Additionally, the Kansas Legislature has required that districts post Form 150 or 151 from the budget document. Prior to the 2015-16 school year, Form 150 - which is a series of formulas and tables utilized by each district to calculate the "Estimated Legal Maximum General Fund Budget" - was used to determine the general fund for school districts. With the implementation of Senate Bill 7 during the 2015 legislative session, school finance is now distributed via block grants to districts. Thus, the replacement for Form 150 - Form 151 - was used to indicate the calculations and distributions for the block grant. Form 151, along with a document noting the cash balances on hand at the beginning of the 2016-17 school year, are included below.
