Curriculum Alignment Process

A group of 18 teachers met each month during the 2014-15 school year to align the new standards to our curriculum.  As a result of the collaboration and dedication, we have created a district wide curriculum map that teachers will use as they plan their weekly lesson plans.
Parents will be able to access this information and read any of the standards for their child that shows the standards followed by grade level essential questions and learning goals.
The standards are from the common core standards that were adopted by the state of Kansas in 2010.  Forty-six states are using the same standards in English Language Arts.
The grade level essential questions are referred to by teachers as they create their lesson plans.
The learning goals will be posted in the classrooms.  Teachers will refer to the goals as they teach the daily lesson.  Students will be able to share with others what the goal is and how they have mastered it in their learning.
