District Staff

  • USD 373 is the largest employer in Newton and the second largest employer in Harvey County with a work force of 800 employees and 600 FTE.
  • More than half of USD 373 teachers have a Masters degree or above.
  • 100% of teachers are designated as “highly qualified” as defined by the Kansas Department of Education.
  • In the past few years, the district has produced 5 Kansas Horizon Award winners, two Kansas Ag Teachers of the Year, Kansas Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association Award Recipient, National Gymnastics Coach of the Year, Kansas Foreign Language Teacher of the Year, Kansas CTE Director of the Year, Kansas Business Office Administrator of the Year, KIAAA 'Carp' Award Recipient and several state coaches of the year, including Volleyball, Tennis, Track, Cross Country and Debate/Forensics.

Extracurricular Activities:

Competitive sports available include Girls and Boys Bowling, Football*, Volleyball*, Girls and Boys Cross Country*, Girls and Boys Tennis*, Girls and Boys Basketball*, Wrestling*, Gymnastics, Girls and Boys Swimming, Girls and Boys Soccer, Baseball, Softball, Girls and Boys Golf, and Girls and Boys Track and Field*.

Activities available include Cheerleading, Railiners Dance Team, Azteca Dancers, Debate, Forensics, FFA, Drama, Music (Vocal*, Band*, Jazz Band, Pep Band, Orchestra*), Odyssey of the Mind, Science Olympiad*,  Model U.N. & RaileRobotics.
