Meet Mrs. Burgess
Posted 7/21/21

Lisa Burgess will be Santa Fe 5/6 Center’s new assistant principal for the 2021-2022 school year. She is replacing Heidi Flores who moved to the principal position. Burgess brings experience as a classroom teacher, instructional coach and as a special education administrative liaison to the position.

Burgess’ previous district was the Wichita school district where she was an MTSS facilitator and instructional coach at Earhart Environmental Magnet School and Chisholm Trail. She also gained leadership experience as an acting assistant principal at Bryant Opportunity Academy, support staff manager and other leadership opportunities. Burgess also taught third grade in the Wichita School District. With her move to Wichita, Burgess will be realizing a long-term goal.

“I always knew I wanted to be in leadership,” Burgess said. “At the end of the day, I just wanted to love kids, support teachers and grow professionally.”

Burgess has known she wanted to be in education since the third grade. She said it was her third-grade teacher who influenced her life and inspired her to stay in the world of education when it came time to pursue a career.

Burgess has her M.S. in Education Administration from Fort Hays State University and her B.S. in Elementary Education from Sterling College. She enjoys spending time with her family, cheering on her sons in their sporting events and travelling.
