Athletics & Activities for Newton High School & Chisholm Middle School

This information was sent in an email and voicemail and applies to all athletes who plan to participate in summer activities sponsored by USD 373 or any of the USD 373 coaches.


Physical packets must be submitted to the NHS athletic office by noon on the day before your athlete can begin participating in any summer activity. Do not delay as the athletic office will be closed for the summer beginning June 5th. A list of providers that offer physicals by appointment can be found at


The Railer Way Strength & Conditioning program and camps for NHS & CMS football begin Tuesday, May 28th. The remaining groups begin Monday, June 3. Please plan ahead for other camps and conditioning that will be held during the summer by getting physicals submitted in the next 2 weeks.


Physical packets and The Railer Way registration forms MUST be picked up from the NHS, CMS or SF offices and processed at NHS before your athlete will be cleared to participate. The forms are not available online.

The Fall Sports Parent Meetings for all NHS and CMS sports will be held the 2nd full week of August (before Fall practices start).  This year, the new code of conduct, Life of a Railer, will be introduced. After information from the athletic directors, coaches will be meeting with parents and athletes for sport specific information. Please check back here & on the NHS & CMS event calendars for more information on dates & times. 


Dates to Remember:

  • Please submit physicals to the NHS office by August 14th.
  • Fall sports begin Monday, August 19th.
  • Fall Pay for Participation fees are due the first week of the season and will be available for payment beginning in July.

  • All activities (at the schools and/or sponsored by USD 373 coaches) require a physical dated May 1, 2019 or after.
  • Physical packets and Strength & Conditioning registration forms are available at NHS, CMS, SF, and St. Mary School.
  • Physicals, forms, and fees must be processed by the athletic office at NHS BEFORE your athlete can participate. Please bring physical packets to NHS to avoid delays in participation.
  • If possible, return all paperwork to NHS by Wednesday, May 22nd.
  • After S&C begins, packets must be turned in by NOON in order for athletes to participate the next day.
  • S&C begins:
    • May 28 for NHS boys
    • June 3 for NHS girls and 5th/6th & 7th/8th grade groups
  • All grades levels are for the 2019-20 school year.
