YMCA Partnership Program

To: Parents of Pre-K through 6th Grade Students in USD 373 and employees,

As a parent of a Newton USD 373 student in Pre-K through sixth grade, or as an employee of the district, you will be pleased to learn of a special partnership in development between the district and our local YMCA. Winning Edge, is a potential program offered at the Newton YMCA when the district is operating in hybrid mode. This program provides a structured environment for virtual learning, physical activity, STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math), as well as fun activities found only at our YMCA.

Key Information

  • County guidelines to minimize the spread of COVID-19 will be followed, which will include wearing masks, washing hands and social distancing when possible.
  • Hours of operation will be from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday
  • The Hybrid group that your student belongs to within the district determines what days they are eligible to attend. For instance, if your student is remote Monday and Tuesday and in school on Thursday and Friday, then they would be able to attend this program on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (everyone is remote on Wednesday).
  • Lunch will be provided for every student with no additional charge.
  • Transportation to and from the YMCA will NOT be provided by the district.
  • The weekly cost is $45 per student. As this cost is already heavily subsidized, there are no waivers or cost reductions available.
  • There are limited spots that will be filled on a first come, first serve basis.
